Sound great on everything from earbuds to studio monitors
Mastering is the final step of audio post-production and aims to getting the best possible result from your music, balancing the eq curve of your mix and optimizing its reproduction through all multimedia systems and formats.
The techniques used in mastering depend on the mix itself.
Usually we tend to use equalizers, compressors, saturators, clippers and limiters in order to create an amalgam between all the elements of the mix, improving the stereo image and the response of the frequencies, in order to have a clean final result, reaching the maximum possible loudness without creating unpleasant artifacts in your track.
How to prepare your pre-master audio files?
Preparing your track for mastering is very simple, you have to make sure that the maximum peaks of the track are in a range between -3dbs and -9dbs. Do not lower the master fader or normalize stereo track but treat the mixage so that the peak level measures a value somewhere between -3dBFS and -14dBFS.
The mix must be linear, so we do not recommend using compressors or limiters in the master bus, if you are intentionally researching a particular character or dynamic behavior, avoid it if you want to add just loudness..
The sample rate must be the same used by your DAW for processing the audio itself, therefore it is strongly not recommended to carry out sample rate conversion processes during the export phase.
Exmple: if your DAW is set to process files at 44100Hz, export your master at 44100Hz, not at 48000.
Bit rating can stay at 24 bits, without any additional dithering during exporting phase.
This procedure can be considered an advanced step of mastering where the engineer is able to control the single groups of sounds that make up your piece and optimize them before proceeding to the final leveling stage.
The tools and techniques used are almost the same as for mastering but, being applied in individual groups, they allow the engineer to be able to process the different parts of your piece separately, taking care of any imperfections present in them, creating a greater amalgamation in yours. song and providing a more professional result to your song.
How to prepare stems?
Preparing your stems for Stem mastering is similar to the procedure you have to follow to prepare the track for the mastering.
The stems must be linear, so we suggesting to don’t use any compressor or eq on the bus of the stems in order to leave us do the best choice for you (what eq use and what compressor use – in case is it needed).
Separate the stems in function of their sounds, for example: all drums grouped in the same stem, all the main synths grouped in the same stem, all background synths in another one… and so on.
We highly suggest you to leave kick, bass and main vocal in separated stems.
Please note that price will change in function of the stems number.
The sample rate must be the same used by your DAW for processing the audio itself, therefore it is strongly not recommended to carry out sample rate conversion processes during the export phase.
Example: if your DAW is set to process files at 44100Hz, export your master at 44100Hz, not at 48000.
Bit rating can stay at 24 bits, without any addictional dithering during exporting phase.
We will care for you of the full mix and mastering of your song, working on all separted channels, one by one, processing all them with professional hardwares and softwares.
Informations us about your project, your idea behind it, the genre and target are also welcome.
If possible, please indicate one or more commercial releases as reference sound.
Always remember to specify BPM timing informations.
The format of the files to be sent must be .wav or .aiff at native resolution of DAW recording project, both for sample rate as well for the bit rate. Set your channel and master faders at zero. Pay attention to the peak level, do not exceed -1dBFS true peak.
It’s strongly recommended to avoid any kind of lossy or lossless encoding.
All the tracks should have no equalization, no compression or any kind of treatment done inside the DAW.
Leave reverbs, delays, saturation, color effects, ecc. ecc. only if the sound was recorded originally with them during acquisition of the signal. Kindly label all the tracks information available into the audio file description itself for maximum comprehension of the recording intents and sound characteristics.
Please note that price will change in function of the channels number.
